Artist Note
What I insist on calling a tanuki in my drawings, if I were to be blunt, originally started as Pikachu. It has evolved from that, and while I can attach various meanings to it, and I do talk about those because it's interesting, if I strip away those parts and think about what it means to me, I see it as a symbol of both myself and others. It represents the favorable aspects of humanity that
I have created in a self-righteous manner. In other words, it symbolizes living freely, not getting hurt or hurting others, being together or apart, simply doing what it likes without dying in this vast world. It is someone and no one at the same time, and that's what I currently think of it.
